A major highlight of AGN’s participation was the launch and hosting of The Actors Marketplace (TAMP), a strategic initiative designed to connect Nigerian actors and creative professionals with international opportunities, industry stakeholders and potential collaborators.
The platform brought together actors, filmmakers, entertainment professionals and international stakeholders for networking, knowledge exchange and conversations about the future of Nollywood.
AGN: “TAMP Is Our Bridge from Nollywood to the World”
In his welcome remarks, AGN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, described TAMP as a key part of the Guild’s vision to reposition Nigerian actors within the global creative economy.
“TAMP is our bridge from Nollywood to the world. We want to create a marketplace where the Nigerian actor is not only seen, but discovered, engaged, celebrated and commercially connected to opportunities across the global creative industry.”
According to him, the initiative is expected to facilitate international collaborations, professional development, investment opportunities, casting connections and greater access to global audiences for Nigerian actors.
Driving the Conversation on Nollywood’s Future AGN’s presence at WIBFF extended beyond the Actors Marketplace.
The Guild actively participated in industry conversations examining the sustainable development of Nollywood and Nigeria’s wider creative economy. Key discussions centred on sustainable financing, professionalisation, capacity building, international partnerships, intellectual property protection, distribution and stronger economic structures for creative professionals.
Participants also examined the potential of Nigeria’s creative sector to drive employment, tourism, cultural diplomacy and economic growth, while highlighting the importance of stronger collaboration among industry stakeholders, government and international organisations.
Patience Ozokwo Takes Centre Stage with Double Lifetime Honour
The festival also delivered a memorable celebration of Nigerian excellence, with several Nollywood personalities receiving prestigious honours for their contributions to the industry.
Veteran actress Patience Ozokwo emerged as one of the biggest stars of the awards ceremony after receiving two Lifetime Achievement Awards one from the Actors Guild of Nigeria and another from the Windsor International Black Film Festival.
The double recognition celebrated her remarkable career, enduring contribution to Nollywood and influence as one of Nigeria’s most respected actresses.
Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas was also honoured with two major awards the Leadership Award and Best Male Actor Award in recognition of his contribution to the industry and his performance.
Brown’s Ifediche Makes History
Another major highlight came from filmmaker and actor Brown, whose acclaimed film Ifediche reportedly dominated the festival’s awards, taking home an impressive six honours.
The achievement reportedly made Brown the highest award winner in the history of the Windsor International Black Film Festival, further highlighting the growing international appetite for Nigerian stories and creative productions.
AGN Deepens Nollywood’s Global Reach
For AGN, the significance of WIBFF 2026 extends beyond the awards and red-carpet celebrations. The Guild’s participation represents a strategic effort to increase the international visibility of Nigerian actors, establish stronger industry connections and create sustainable opportunities for Nollywood professionals.
Through The Actors Marketplace, AGN is positioning the Nigerian actor not merely as a participant in international productions, but as a commercially valuable creative professional capable of competing, collaborating and building careers within the global entertainment ecosystem.
