EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed this during a media interaction in Abuja, where he reviewed his three-year stewardship of the anti-graft agency.
According to the EFCC chairman, the affected officers were found to have engaged in corrupt practices and other forms of financial misconduct and were subsequently removed from the commission.
Olukoyede further disclosed that more than five other personnel are currently facing prosecution over alleged corrupt practices, with additional cases being prepared for prosecution.
He stressed that the commission would not protect its own personnel when they are found to have violated the law.
The EFCC chairman maintained that officers responsible for investigating and prosecuting financial crimes must be held to the same standards of accountability expected of members of the public.
The development underscores the commission’s emphasis on internal discipline as it continues its broader campaign against corruption, fraud and other forms of financial crime across the country.
Olukoyede also highlighted the commission’s activities in the areas of asset recovery, investigation and prosecution, saying the agency remains committed to strengthening its effectiveness and credibility in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
