The strategic meeting, held on August 3 in Abuja, brought together the High Commissioner of Namibia to Nigeria, Mr. Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Abubakar Yakubu, the Guild's Immediate Past President, Dr. Emeka Rollas Ejezie, MON, AGN Secretary Ms. Ifeoma Okeke, and the Country Director of Travelwings Nigeria, Mr. Abhavesh Punjabi.
According to the Namibian High Commission, discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in film production, tourism promotion and the broader creative economy, with both sides identifying opportunities to deepen engagement between stakeholders in Nigeria and Namibia.
A key highlight of the meeting was the exploration of ways to encourage Nigerian filmmakers to leverage Namibia's breathtaking landscapes and tourist attractions as filming locations. Such collaborations are expected to not only showcase Namibia's natural beauty to global audiences but also open new creative and commercial opportunities for filmmakers from both countries.
The stakeholders also discussed initiatives centred on skills development, mentorship, knowledge exchange and investment, all aimed at supporting the growth of Namibia's emerging creative industry while fostering stronger ties with Nigeria's globally recognised film sector.
The engagement underscores the growing recognition of the creative economy as a powerful tool for economic diversification, cultural exchange and international cooperation.
