The distinguished panel brings together internationally recognised professionals whose careers span film production, regulation, media management, academia and cultural development, reinforcing the Guild's commitment to transparency, integrity and excellence in recognising outstanding achievements within the industry.
The jury includes veteran filmmaker and former Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Chief Emeka Mba; acclaimed Ghanaian filmmaker and Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority of Ghana, Kafui Danku-Pitcher; award-winning filmmaker and producer Femi Odugbemi; respected arts administrator and cultural advocate Tony Marinho; and renowned film scholar and creative industry expert Prof. Hyginus Ekwuazi.
According to the Guild, the panel has been entrusted with the responsibility of independently assessing nominations and selecting winners across the various award categories, ensuring that recipients emerge strictly on merit and in line with the highest professional standards.
The DGN said the calibre of the jury reflects its vision of establishing the Awards of Excellence as one of the most respected honours in Nigeria's creative industry, celebrating individuals and organisations whose work has shaped the growth, innovation and global reputation of Nigerian filmmaking.
Beyond recognising excellence in directing, the awards will spotlight exceptional contributions across the wider creative ecosystem, honouring pioneers, innovators and industry leaders whose achievements continue to inspire the next generation of storytellers.
The inaugural DGN Awards of Excellence is expected to attract an impressive gathering of filmmakers, actors, producers, broadcasters, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders from across Nigeria and the international creative community, positioning the event as a landmark celebration of excellence, professionalism and artistic achievement.
