Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State stood still as Nigeria’s King of Comedy, Ali Baba Atunyota Akpobome, and his siblings lay their beloved mother, Dame Salome Ufuoma Akpobome, to rest on February 20, 2026.
The burial ceremonies for the revered teacher, businesswoman, counsellor and philanthropist began on Wednesday, February 18, with a solemn Service of Songs at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Agbarha-Otor.
Family, friends, associates and dignitaries gathered to celebrate a life widely described as impactful, disciplined and devoted to service.
Dame Salome Ufuoma Akpobome passed on to glory on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 90. Her legacy of faith, enterprise and community leadership lives on through her children and the many lives she touched over nine remarkable decades.
The comedy icon has also revealed plans to hold a Thanksgiving service in Lagos where he will have the opportunity to celebrate his mother’s life with friends and associates who may be unable to travel to Delta State.
The family expressed gratitude for the continued prayers, support, and understanding from the public.
